ICC Test 2024: jwin7 Kagiso Rabada takes 300th Test wicket as South Africa leads Bangladesh

jwin7 South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada took a record 300th Test wicket on day one of the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh on Monday The national team was bowled out for 106 in the first innings.
Rabada became the fastest player to reach 300 Test wickets, achieving the feat with 11,187 balls at a strike rate of 39.39, surpassing former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis' record of 12,602 balls.
When poor light halted play, South Africa responded with a score of 140 for 6, leading by 34 runs after a day of attrition of the batsmen in which 16 wickets were knocked out.
Kyle Verreynne (18 not out) and Wiaan Mulder (17 not out) will resume action on Tuesday.
All-rounder Mulder took the first three wickets in the early going to leave Bangladesh, who won the toss and elected to bat, trailing 21-3 before Rabada batted Mushfiqur Ra Shim reached a milestone.
His 300th wicket came in his 65th Test. Only five other South African bowlers have taken 300 or more wickets in Tests, with Dale Steyn's 439 topping the list.
South Africa got off to a poor start as stand-in captain Aiden Markram was caught off guard by Hasan Mahmud and was dismissed for six at the end of the first over.
The Test in Dhaka is the first of a two-match series, with the second match taking place in Chittagong next week.
