jeetwin 168 India's top fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has officially been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 next season due to injury.

It was stated that Bumrah was shortlisted but failed to make the cut and the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement.

The eight-nation tournament will begin in Karachi on February 19 with the first match pitting hosts Pakistan against New Zealand.

Earlier, Bumrah was included in India's 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy despite concerns over his recovery from an injury sustained in the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

Bumrah, who was then a student at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, underwent multiple scans. India's ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma said the team management is awaiting scan results to get a clearer picture of his knee injury.

"We are awaiting an update on his scan results which are expected in the next few days. Once we receive the scan reports, we will have a better idea of his current condition and whether he will be fit to play the last ODI," Rohit said ahead of India's ODI series against England.

Bumrah's absence will be a major setback for India. The right-arm bowler had a stellar season in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, picking up 32 wickets in five matches at an average of 13.06, winning the Player of the Series award.

Bumrah assumed a prominent role Down Under, bowling 151.2 overs, the highest score by an Indian bowler in the series, including a fifty-plus over in the fourth Test in Melbourne.

He also contributed significantly to India's success in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17 and was named Player of the Series.

India have also included Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad. The spinner will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal who was initially included in the provisional squad.

India will play all its matches in Dubai. Pakistan are the defending champions of the 50-over tournament, having won the title in 2017 after defeating India in the final.
